Insider guide

Shopping Grand Canal.

The story

Grand Canal Shoppes is the 875,000 sq ft mall on Retail Level 2 of The Venetian and The Palazzo, laid out along a quarter-mile indoor canal under painted-sky ceilings. It has about 160 stores and is reached from both casino floors and both self-parking garages.

The mix runs from designer boutiques to mid-range chains, with chocolate shops and a long list of restaurants in between. When you need a break, the mall's seating is in St. Mark's Square, along the Grand Canal, around The Wishing Tree and in the Sky Garden.

What to Expect

At the top end, The Venetian lists private shopping at Ferragamo, Jimmy Choo takes private appointments, and Burberry and Montblanc are the other luxury names. Montblanc is the place for an engraved pen or a corporate gift. Tory Burch offers in-person and virtual styling, and Coach, Stuart Weitzman, Steve Madden, White House Black Market and Michael Kors (in The Palazzo) cover mid-range fashion and shoes. Cuadra sells handmade Mexican cowboy boots, exotic-skin belts and leather jackets.

Several stores solve trip problems. TUMI has carry-ons and monogramming if you need a new bag, Skechers is there for feet that gave out on the resort walks, and PANDORA staff will clean and restyle your pieces. STUDS does ear piercing, so book ahead. Bauman Rare Books is a wood-paneled room of first editions, signed books and historical documents, and it is worth a look even if you aren't buying. For edible gifts, Läderach breaks its FrischSchoggi chocolate bark to order by weight, and Royce' Chocolate sells Nama chocolate squares and chocolate-covered potato chips.

Best Time to Visit

The mall runs Sunday to Thursday 10am to 9pm and Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm. Bauman Rare Books keeps 10am to 8pm daily, and Sloan's Ice Cream stays open until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 1am on weekends. Many stores don't post their own hours, so call ahead for any single stop. Before you go, pull up the mall's Premier Passport page: its offers run through May 31, 2027 and include 20% off at Steve Madden and 15% off piercing at STUDS.

If You Only Have an Hour

Start at Bauman Rare Books on Retail Level 2, then walk the canal to Jimmy Choo and TUMI. Pick up chocolate at Läderach or Royce', and finish with a phin-drip coffee at TRA Viet Coffee & Tea.

Where to Eat

The mall has a full dining lineup. Brera Osteria does house-made pasta, wood-fired pizza and aperitivo, Mercato della Pescheria focuses on seafood, pasta and pizza, and Buddy V's Ristorante serves Buddy Valastro's family recipes, with cake to finish. Smith & Wollensky is the steakhouse, Sushisamba mixes sushi, Peruvian ceviche and Brazilian churrasco, and TAO Asian Bistro has a 20-foot Buddha and shared platters.

Elsewhere in The Venetian, the MICHELIN Guide recommends Bouchon, Thomas Keller's French bistro on the 10th floor of The Venetian, along with Cote Las Vegas, the Korean steakhouse, and Estiatorio Milos for Greek seafood. At The Palazzo, Mott 32 serves Cantonese cooking; pre-order the duck.
