Insider guide
Shopping Chinatown.
The story
Las Vegas's Chinatown is a three-mile run of Asian strip malls along Spring Mountain Rd west of the Strip, from roughly Valley View Blvd west past Decatur, Jones and Rainbow. Chinatown Plaza at 4205 Spring Mountain Rd anchors it, and the corridor is packed with markets, bakeries, boba shops, beauty stores and restaurants.
This is where locals shop for groceries and eat late, a short drive from the Strip resorts. Come hungry; the shopping and the eating are the same trip.
What to Expect
Chinatown Plaza holds most of the shops we list. 99 Ranch Market is the supermarket anchor, with produce, live seafood and cooking staples from across Asia. Aritaum sells AmorePacific skincare such as Sulwhasoo, Innisfree and Laneige, and T&T Ginseng stocks ginseng, herbal remedies, teas and dried seafood. Great Wall Bookstore is the stationery and art-supply stop, and Dynasty Arts & Crafts, Chinatown Outlet, New Century Arts & Gifts and Tiayi Art sell gifts, from jade jewelry and money trees to Buddha figures. Zen D'core and Fortune Décor carry home decor.
For sweets, Diamond Bakery bakes custom cakes and pastries, Paris Baguette has breads and grab-and-go trays from 7am, and The Sweet Spot serves crepes and gelato. No. 1 Boba is the grab-and-go counter, and Volcano Tea House is the sit-down one. Two more markets are worth the stop: Seafood City Supermarket has a pandesal bakery and a Jollibee inside, and H Mart is the stop for banchan and Korean BBQ meats.
Best Time to Visit
Chinatown Plaza posts 10am to 9pm daily, and many restaurants on the strip stay open past midnight. The plaza shops close earlier than the restaurants: Aritaum at 6:30pm, Great Wall Bookstore at 6:45pm and Fortune Décor at 5pm. Weekday lunch or a 2pm late lunch avoids the 30-minute to two-hour waits common on Friday and Saturday nights. Chinatown Plaza also hosts the Reclaim Night Market, with local streetwear brands and designers, from 5pm to 10pm on November 20 and December 18, 2026 and January 15, 2027.
If You Only Have an Hour
Park at Chinatown Plaza. Shop 99 Ranch Market for snacks and staples, pick up skincare at Aritaum, and take a bag of pastries from Diamond Bakery. Finish with a boba at Volcano Tea House.
Where to Eat
Seven restaurants on or near Spring Mountain Rd made the first MICHELIN Southwest selection. Partage serves surprise French tasting menus of five, seven or nine courses that change monthly, Sparrow + Wolf (Chef Brian Howard's, since 2017) cooks a shareable menu off a wood-fired grill, and Lamaii serves Thai food in the same plaza. Kame Omakase is Chef Eric Kim's counter omakase, Kabuto does Edomae-style sushi at the western end, and Pho Ga Bac Bac is the Vietnamese pick; all are Recommended. YEN Viet Kitchen on S Decatur Blvd is a Bib Gourmand.
For something more casual, order the barbecued pork buns and rice noodle rolls with XO sauce at Ellie's Chinese Restaurant, or the tom yum goong and Laotian-style papaya salad at Kao Gang. Shoo Loong Kan Hot Pot (in Chinatown Plaza) and Oden Spicy Hot Pot cover hot pot, and Pop Café does hojicha lattes and matcha drinks.
